HHYF COVID-19 Relief Support

During the COVID-19 pandemic Help Himalayan Youth Foundation (HHYF) have supported and partnered with number of community organisations in Australia and overseas to assist Refugees, Asylum Seekers and International students affected by COVID-19.

HHYF partnered with Refugee Communities Association of Australia (RCAA) in the RCAA COVID-19 Relief Taskforce to support Asylum Seekers, Refugees and other temporary visa holders. Through this taskforce, HHYF is supporting number of community groups and individuals.

HHYF have supported Non-Residence Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia in Victoria with financial donation and assisted in preparation of food delivery items to international students. HHYF is currently supporting Yeti Football Club based in Melbourne by providing food item for 20 international students affected by pandemic.

HHYF have made financial donation to INHURED International, Kathmandu based INGO to support 323 urban refugees from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Pakistan, Somalia, Myanmar (except Rohingya), Iran and Sri-Lanka.

The INHURED International has set-up a 24 hour “COVID-19 LifeLine” to render support to urban refugees affected by pandemic in Kathmandu valley. Besides Bhutanese and Tibetan refugees in Nepal, Nepal currently hosts nearly 700 urban refugees from more than 10 countries under UNHCR protection. These refugees are considered as ‘illegal immigrants’ by the government of Nepal, and they do not fall under the relief support program of Nepalese government.

The Help-Himalayan Youth Foundation is a volunteer led Not-For-Profit community organisation, established in 2014 by like-minded youth from Karen (Myanmar) and Bhutanese refugee communities, and Nepalese Youth living in Australia.

This intercultural youth organisation is the first of its kind formed in Australia by youth from new and emerging communities on their own initiative to address their issues and challenges faced during their early phase of settlement in Australia. The HHYF aims to provide leadership and advocacy through youth-initiated programs and underpin capacity building and skills development by identifying their interest and connect to relevant career pathways.
